Building a business caring for others can be one of the most rewarding, and yet also challenging at times. We are constantly having to battle for our clients best interests. We often deal with multiple government departments, funding challenges and constant changes in legislation. These are just a few hurdles that we face on a weekly basis for a SIL participant.
However making a difference is part of our culture and the DNA of LME Care. It’s something we are deeply passionate about since starting this business 4 years ago.
LME Care is more than just another NDIS Provider. Our vision and purpose is clear. To be part of meaningful change in the lives of clients, by supporting them to become confident to make an impact in the wider community.
We’d like to highlight the story of one of our SIL participants, Brian. Read all about Brian’s triumphant story here. We hope it will bring you inspiration and hope for anyone you know who is experiencing hard times.
Meet Brian, a 59 year old male who has been with LME Care since December 2022. Brian is a father, an uncle and a brother, an avid plant lover and a massive Broncos fan. He is the embodiment of strength and perseverance, despite all the challenges thrown his way. Brian always presents with a smile and positive attitude.
Brian came into our care after doing a very long stint in Ipswich Hospital. Unfortunately, due to having no suitable place to call home, Brian ended up staying in hospital as a long-term stay patient.
Unfortunately for many Australians, this is a story we hear all too often. It’s one reason why the NDIS scheme was created to help people who are in similar situations. However, not all individuals are aware of the support available, or don’t know how to get started.
SIL Participant Brian had a long history of hospitalisations, homelessness, and financial hardship. All of which, have caused great difficulty getting Brian the care and support he so desperately needed.
He was assigned an incredible Support Coordinator. She became the driving force behind getting Brian out of hospital, back into the community and into a stable and supported environment. With her drive and tenacity, Brian was able to acquire the necessary funding and the support services to go with it, to suit his needs.
When Brian first came into our care, not so long ago, he was in a very poor state. He had extreme muscle wastage and struggled to stand without assistance. He was often in extreme pain.
Fast forward just a few short months, Brian is now starting to stand on his own. His balance has noticeably and significantly improved. He has found a new sense of self confidence to go with it too. Receiving both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy fortnightly, and completing home exercises. With the help of his support workers, Brians progress is not easily overlooked.

Since LME Care opened Milly’s place, which is our latest NDIS Community Hub where people can attend a variety of day programs on offer. Brian now regularly attends Pottery classes once a week and loves creating pieces to gift to family and loved ones.
He also goes dancing every week and you will likely find him tearing up the dance floor (on wheels) in a retro t-shirt complimented by one of his hats from his expansive collection. Brian also part-takes in our Art Therapy Program run by our very own Diversional Therapist Sandra, providing Brian with a new expressive outlet, through art. He has already completed some beautiful paintings and we can’t wait to see what else he creates.
This incredible individual has gone through immense challenges and hardships, and is now a thriving member of his community with a renewed sense of purpose and belonging as well as mental and physical health, and regularly interacts with other SIL Participants.
This story, like many of our other clients is the reason that LME Care exists. The hard work of all of our staff involved in Brian’s care is a testament to the values that our team embody.
