Feedback from our participants who attended our first Equine Experience Day At Milly’s Place:
“Exciting, Rewarding and Definitely Worth Repeating.“
We’re always on the look out for new and exciting experiences to share with our participants at Hub Club. Hub Club is a program which is part of Milly’s Place – a Day Program for NDIS Participants. We found a wonderful local miniature horse farm who host Equine Experience Days for people with disabilities. So… naturally we had to check it out!
What Is Hub Club?
Hub Club is our new and exciting program created by LME Care. It launched only a few months ago, and is proving to be our most popular yet! It’s a brand new membership based concept in providing exciting activities and events to eligible NDIS participants. Hub Club uses your existing funding, and will generally require no out of pocket expenses. (Read more about Hub Club in a previous Blog here)
Our Equine Experience Day Out
Our SIL Participants were recently given the opportunity to join Valeska and Colin at their Miniature Horse Care Centre. It’s located in South Maclean which was an easy 45 minute drive, south of Brisbane.
Our crew experienced real hands-on learning, quickly learning some care skills such as brushing and grooming which they all enjoyed thoroughly.
Bella, Eliza and Rocky (our miniature horse friends) loved the special attention. They particularly loved it when their bridles and harnesses were decorated with ribbons – ohh la la! They were happy to let our members walk and trot them over the jumps.
This day out was initially met with a lot of nerves and hesitation. But seeing how far our participants came in such a short time was truly special. It’s not often you get to interact with a live miniature horse, and seeing the smiles and joy on their faces was really special. All we ask is to try something new, and have a go. That is exactly what they did, and we couldn’t be more proud!
To complete our experience day, we shared morning tea and were able to celebrate Pauline’s birthday with a surprise cake.
Spending time with animals provides a sense of peace for our club members. It allows them an opportunity to care for another, all while instilling a sense of satisfaction in their achievement and learning something new.
