We have so many incredible projects that our participants have worked on in our NDIS Visual Arts Programs at Milly’s Place for 2024. From painting and screen printing to pottery – out groups have created exceptional masterpieces that are truly inspirational.
But before we get into that, let’s wind back to a bit more info on our NDIS Visual Arts programs. Milly’s Place is our NDIS Day Centre that was launched in January 2024. It was developed as a place of learning, friendship and growth. Since then, it has truly taken on a life of its own.
Our team run different programs each day of the week from 10am – 3pm. Some are held at the centre, and others are on site. Check out more information about our programs here.
Tuesdays are all about Painting Happiness! It’s facilitated by Denise who is currently studying art therapy. In this block, participants have been putting ideas onto canvas, each week walking away with a completed art work. We have taken an ‘instructed step-by step’ approach which has been fantastic for refreshing participants on techniques that they have learnt throughout the year. The theme on Tuesdays is decided upon by our participants the week prior.
Check out these paintings from a few weeks ago, where the team painted dolphins looking out of a portal window. The best part is not only about learning new skills, the group has a really fun time expressing themselves and connecting with others.

All participant are encouraged to incorporate their personal style and I’m sure you’ll agree that each piece looks truly fantastic.
In the coming weeks, participants will be looking at ‘Pointillism’. Primarily invented by French artists Georges Seurat and Paul Signac in 1886, Pointillism developed in response to the popular movement of Impressionism that dominated.
This is the style adopted by indigenous artists but is originally an Impressionist invention. This technique focuses on painting small but separate dots of unmixed colours side by side, which were placed in various patterns in order to form an image. The effect that this had was that in placing the dots so close to one another, they would automatically blur into an image by the eyes of viewers.
Continuing on into 2025, Visual arts programs will still feature on our weekly program schedule. If you have considered joining, now is the time to get involved!
