NDIS Cooking Program Update:
Can you believe it’s already been more than 6 months since our cooking program first started! And boy does time fly! During this block, we have been focusing on a new concept called “Around the world in 12 weeks” which is all about exploring new tastes, textures and cultures. As well as trying new flavours and ingredient combinations.
Our primary goals through this program has been to create delicious and nutritious meals that our participants can easily replicate at home. Our secondary goals, are to improve kitchen confidence, safe kitchen procedures and most importantly to mix and mingle with others in a fun and engaging way.
It’s not just about the cooking through, our group starts the day deciding on the dish. Next, they compile a shopping list of all the ingredients needed, before heading out to the local supermarket to buy the ingredients together. Then we head back to Milly’s Place HQ where we have our safety briefing and away we go!
Participants have covered the following tantalising dishes from the below countries:

While the shopping, preparing and cooking side of this program ist special. There are really key life skills that the group learn during this process. This block they have been learning about knife skills, presentation, portion control and safe food handling with our Qualified Chef and Facilitator- Gabriel.
We take pride in teaching them about plating techniques, setting the table. Then we all sit down together as a group and enjoy our meals.
